Quantum science and engineering is one of five top priority areas identified in the University’s Science Strategy Report and we are delighted to announce a search for a faculty position for the academic year 2022.
The Department of Applied Physics at Yale University invites applications for a faculty appointment in the area of experimental quantum information science. Applications will be considered at the tenured Associate Professor/Full Professor level. This is intended to be a broad search to identify a candidate at the mid-career level in the general area of experimental quantum computing and quantum information science. We welcome applications from a wide range of platforms and physical systems. Quantum science and engineering is one of five top priority areas identified in the University’s Science Strategy Report and we have a vibrant and expanding community both in the Yale Quantum Institute and described more broadly at Quantum at Yale. Yale is engaged in a campus-wide investment in quantum science, engineering, and materials across a range of departments, and expects to conduct additional searches in these areas in future years.
The successful candidate is expected to initiate a vibrant research group, be an interactive member of the Applied Physics Department, and contribute to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We are especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. To promote diversity, the Department welcomes applications from women, persons with disabilities, protected veterans, and underrepresented minorities. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Applied Physics, Physics, or an equivalent degree, at the time of the hire. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2022.
